Why I Wrote Dreading Loneliness
Why I Wrote Dreading Loneliness
Hi, I'm Theresa Lea. I've lived a lot of lives in one lifetime, and every one of them taught me something about people, connection and what it means to feel alone.
A life of many chapters I started out in computer science, earning my associate degree back when we typed commands into DOS and thought that was the future. Then life called me in a different direction. For years, I pastored people, sitting with them through joys, losses and the quiet seasons in between. I learned that loneliness can find anyone, even in a room full of people.
Next came a completely different world. I started my own company managing music artists, some of them true triple threats, and worked with every corner of the music industry. Somewhere in there, I was also competing in triathlons, because apparently one full life at a time wasn't enough.
When I “retired” the first time, my husband and I bought a bed and breakfast and ran it for years. We welcomed travelers from everywhere, each one carrying their own story.
Where I am now Today, at 68, I'm retired again (for real this time, I think). You'll find me riding the trails with my husband of 31 years, Byron. I ride Teddy, my Rocky Mountain horse, and Byron rides Smokey. Our two dogs, Owlea and Milo, keep us company and keep us laughing. Our son, Zion, is engaged to a wonderful woman we already love like family.
Why I wrote Dreading Loneliness Across every chapter of my life, as a pastor, a manager, an athlete, an innkeeper, a wife and a mother, I've seen how deeply people fear being alone. I've also seen how that fear can turn into something good: strength, faith, friendship and a new beginning.
That's what this book and podcast are about: real stories, honest conversations and hope you can hold onto.
